Description

Bakonydraco galaczi was an azhdarchid pterosaur from the Hungarian Csehbánya Formation (where Hungarosaurus and Ajkaceratops come from), which dates to about 85 million years ago. Its jaws were relatively taller than other azhdarchids, suggesting it may have had a different lifestyle to them. Lifestyle proposed include a piscivore (yeah, not another boring fish eater? :/), or a frugivore (sort of like the tapejarids). The wingspan is estimated to be about 3.5 to 4 metres.

This drawing is pretty significant, as this is my first attempt at a relatively accurate pterosaur. As a first attempt, I think I did well. I used :iconmattmart:'s, :iconkarkajou1993:'s and Mark Witton's pterosaur work for reference (specifically azhdarchid - I couldn't find any good Bakonydraco palaeoart). As a result, I think things are mostly fine, though I used shading to show the presence of the fourth finger and pteroid bone, because I wasn't sure if they would be visible on the real animal and I didn't want a shrink wrapped look (the fleshy bit on the beak isn't intended to be shrink wrapping, just a lighter grey). The only things I think I may have screwed up on is the fleshy bit around the nostrils, which I think should go a bit closer to the pycnofibres (thugh I'm not an expert on pterosaur anatomy, so...), and the ear looks too visible (I should probably use greylead for my ears in the future). The scales on the forelimbs (well, I think they may be feet, looking at the rest of the body) were inspired by Mark Witton's azhdarchids, and they seem to make sense going on there anyway.

Oh, and when I was colouring this, I realised the colours were awfully orang-utan like (with the orange pycnofibres and grey feet), and the beak looks like a dodo...

Looks like a friggin' flamingo ...

Maybe you could work on the realism of your drawing ;)
