What?!?! Me, uploading a DRAWING after MONTHS? What is going on?!?! Okay, I'll admit this - I did this drawing over a year ago. It took me months to scan it... and then months to upload it. Yeah, I've got some serious procrastination issues...

Anyway, here's the recently extinct Meiolania platyceps, a Meiolaniid turtle that went extinct in the Late Pleistocene (100 000-25 000 years ago). What motivated me to draw this was the fact that the island this species of Meiolania was from, Lord Howe Island, was not inhabited by humans until Europeans discovered the island. Yet, this species still went extinct. I really wanted to know why this was the case, because every other landmass on Earth had megafauna extinctions tied to the appearance of humans. I didn't seem to find anything about it, so who knows if it was climate change or even overpopulation that wiped it out?

Drawing itself looks okay, but I must admit that adding the other forelimb would make it look way better. ^^;
